History of the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower was built in wrought iron between 1887 and 1889, for the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris.

History of Versailles Palace

In 1682 the King of France, Louis 14, moved to the suburbs of Paris, to the rural city of Versailles. A hunting lodge, transformed into the “Château de Versailles” or “Castle of Versailles”, a new residence for the Royal family, to escape the social unrest and disease of Paris. It was expanded until it became the property it is today.
