History of the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower was built in wrought iron between 1887 and 1889, for the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris.
The “Iron Lady”, as she is known by Parisians, is 330 meters high. The tower is named in honor of Engineer Gustave Eiffel.

History of Versailles Palace

In 1682 the King of France, Louis 14, moved to the suburbs of Paris, to the rural city of Versailles. A hunting lodge, transformed into the “Château de Versailles” or “Castle of Versailles”, a new residence for the Royal family, to escape the social unrest and disease of Paris. It was expanded until it became the property it is today.

Church of San Francisco history

Construction of the Church of the Convent of São Francisco began in 1383, and over the years it grew.
It was during the 18th century that most of the Church was covered with Baroque gilded carving.
